state of SF
I'm planning on making an assassin my main character and farmer.
But since I have little experience with farming and shadow form, I just wanted to know how much of an effect the nerf had on the perma-form builds. Post-nerf, is it still better than most other builds in the meta these days? And if not, what are other alternatives that seem to be popular at the moment (from other classes, also)
Thanks!

It's still the most effective, the current build kills things with degen which is unaffected by the nerf.

PermaSF sins are currently the most effective method of farming ectos in the game. The nerf did nothing really to affect thr farm as players are able to do the chaos plain run now faster than before. The claim that the "nerf" did what it was supposed to do by "slowing down" the efficacy of SF in farming ectos is not true. It is true you kill less Riders and Mindblades after the update, but you do it faster. Hence the failure of the "nerf" in achieving its stated goal.

"Currently" is the key word.
While it is true that it did not slow down the chaos plains farming, it did do damage to some farming builds used in other locations.
The shadow dagger builds, for instance, were hit pretty hard - still possible to do in most of the old locations but much slower.
Basically, if you intend to use a degen build, it is as fast as before. The sliver armor build is almost as fast as it was before in those areas where you have a large number of melee things hitting you to trigger sliver. But, if you are planning to use a dagger build, you might want to look into other alternatives.
One other thing to keep in mind is that we don't know what ANet will do with SF or how soon. On the one hand, they may change it as soon as this week. On the other, since ectos seem to have stabilized at about 4k, they may decide to leave it alone for a while.
Overall - the perma sin is powerful but volatile and a bit limited in where they can farm (probably a good choice if you want to make a lot of money quickly but are not looking for long term usability). If you are looking only at farming, the monk builds are less powerful but more versatile and stable in the long run (might be a better choice if you are wanting to have the same character able to farm 6 months down the road).

i heard SF was nerfed but i didnt do SF, i always do farming trolls outside droknars forge with my warrior. hes strong armor and steals health and i get 50-100g each time. The run takes 5 minutes so i make 600g- 2k an houre. with lots of cool drops too. That farm is an alternative,

the nerf really didnt affect the underworld farm at all, i have actually found the drop rate to be better when they die from degen

The nerf did effect the UW farm. It didn't make it impossible, but now you have to run a completely different, and slower, build against fewer ecto droppers.

I would say you have an extremely flawed outlook on the situation since farming slightly faster but half the mobs is in no way more efficient. I would say the nerf most certainly did what it was intended to do. I also want to point out the sin never was the fastest really. A terra tank was quicker although the greatest high light of the sin build was the ease given to bypass the bladed aaxte and grasping darkness. I also want to point out degen was most certainly not the fastest way to kill pre nerf.
